The Science Teacher is responsible for facilitating student success and academic growth by implementing Noble Garden Academy’s standards-aligned science curriculum, monitoring student progress, addressing individual learning needs, and maintaining a safe, supportive, and engaging classroom environment.

Job Responsibilities

• Develop and implement daily lesson plans and engaging learning activities aligned with the Virginia Department of Education Standards of Learning (SOL) and Noble Garden Academy’s instructional program.
• Deliver high-quality, interactive science instruction through discussions, demonstrations, laboratory investigations, hands-on activities, technology integration, and independent practice.
• Differentiate instruction to ensure all students have meaningful access to the curriculum regardless of learning style, ability level, English proficiency, or individual interests.
• Assess student learning using a variety of formative and summative assessment methods, including observations, projects, performance tasks, quizzes, and standards-based assessments.
• Foster scientific inquiry, problem-solving, collaboration, and critical thinking while encouraging curiosity and a growth mindset.
• Maintain a safe, organized, respectful, and positive classroom environment by modeling appropriate behavior and implementing school-wide expectations consistently.
• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student academic progress, behavior, and growth through conferences, phone calls, email, and other communication platforms.
• Collaborate with fellow teachers, administrators, and support staff to improve instructional practices and contribute to a positive school culture.
• Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events as required.

Position Requirements

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Science Education or a closely related field.
• Completion of a student teaching internship or equivalent field experience in secondary or elementary education.
• Knowledge of instructional practices aligned with the Virginia Department of Education Standards of Learning (SOL).
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Basic proficiency with educational technology and computer applications.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience teaching science in a classroom setting.
• Experience integrating educational technology and hands-on or inquiry-based learning into science instruction.
